Senior Accountant Role

We seek a seasoned Senior Accountant with extensive experience in US non-profit accounting to join our organization.

This part-time remote position involves financial reporting, close processes, audits, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the accuracy of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintain the general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  • Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close responsibilities and ensure team members stay on track during close.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure optimal processes and efficiency.
  • Ensure deadlines and controls are met in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Manage proper deliverables to external auditors on annual audits and quarterly reviews.
  • Lead internal audit engagements.
  • Complete external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
  • Avoid legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups.
  • Protect the organization's financial information.
  • Assist with month-end close and other projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and more than seven years of experience in finance or accounting or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in US non-profit accounting, including reporting and compliance (tax).
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
  • Experience in a Big 4 firm is a plus.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Experience developing financial reports and metrics.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
