IT Professional - Systems Administrator

We are seeking an experienced IT professional to join our team as a systems administrator. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IT, with experience in system administration, network security, and user VPN setup.

The successful applicant will be responsible for handling all IT work, including firewall setup, security, and user VPN for both remote and office environments. They will also collaborate with teams across the company to facilitate connectivity, access, and permissions to various applications.

This is a challenging role that requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on delivering high-quality solutions. We are looking for someone who is proactive, solutions-oriented, and has excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle all IT work, including firewall setup, security, and user VPN for both remote and office environments.
  • Collaborate with teams across the company to facilitate connectivity, access, and permissions to various applications.
  • Work with the IT director to identify and implement new technologies and tools to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Partner with DevOps/support teams to resolve issues and provide technical support.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience as IT staff.
  • Experience in third-party vendor/supplier management and coordination.
  • Fluent English.
  • Direct experience with US or EU customers.
  • System administration proficiency in main Linux OS flavors: Red Hat/CentOS 6, 7, 8; Ubuntu.
  • Windows administration proficiency; knowledge of current Windows releases (Windows 7/8/10) and Server versions (2008/2012); Remote Desktop.
  • Scripting: at least one of Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Networking: FortiGate firewall setup; basic understanding of static routing and DHCP; basic Wi-Fi knowledge.
  • IT automation using technologies such as Ansible.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with leading IT teams working with development groups.
  • Infrastructure maintenance: LAMP, monitoring tools.
  • Bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla).
  • Server configuration tools (e.g., OMSA, PSP).
  • Monitoring: Nagios, Centreon, Zabbix; configuration management: Puppet, Chef, Salt.
  • Configuration management: Makefile, Scons, RPMs, compilation and linkage; Phabricator.
  • RHCE certificate.
  • Advanced networking troubleshooting; Wi-Fi understanding.
  • Fiber connectivity (single-mode and multi-mode); L3 routing protocols such as BGP; UDP unicast/multicast.
  • Fortigate firewall configuration; VPN for clients.
  • Low-latency switches such as Cisco Nexus, Dell Force10, Arista; Solarflare NICs.
  • Remote or on-site server work.
  • VoIP knowledge (SIP signaling, RTP, firewall considerations for SIP Trunks).
  • Virtual machines and cloud: QEMU, Docker; cloud providers such as AWS, GCP; cloud networking.
