Construction Estimator Position

The Construction Estimator is a key role, responsible for analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with estimating software.

This individual must have the ability to review architectural and engineering drawings, project plans, and specifications to create accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor work.

  1. Estimate Preparation: Review project documents to create detailed cost estimates for various components of a project.
  2. Historical Data Analysis: Analyze historical data and pricing trends to improve the accuracy of cost estimates.
  3. Solicitation and Evaluation: Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors.
  4. Database Management: Develop and maintain a database of unit costs, productivity rates, and supplier pricing information.
  5. Project Coordination: Coordinate with project managers to ensure smooth transition of awarded projects into production.

Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining databases, preparing cost estimates, analyzing data, and coordinating with project teams.

Requirements
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Construction Estimator (3+ years preferred).
  • Estimating Software Proficiency: Experience with estimating software (e.g., ProEst, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Sage Estimating).
  • Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
  • Mathematical and Analytical Skills: Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Remote Work: Self-motivated and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Collaboration Tools: Experience with remote collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Slack, Trello).
  • Building Codes and Permit Processes: Knowledge of local building codes and permit processes.
  • LEED Certification: LEED certification or knowledge of sustainable building practices is beneficial.
