Job Title: Special Education Assistant

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be patient and understanding, and have a strong commitment to student success. They will work closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

  • Required Skills:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; minimum of 60 college hours preferred
  • Ability to work one-on-one with students, assisting with daily living tasks and providing emotional support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Other Responsibilities:

Assist in managing student behavior and implementing behavioral intervention plans as needed

Participate in regular meetings with teachers and administrators to discuss student progress and plan for future instruction

Physical Demands:

This role requires frequent standing, walking, and moving around the classroom and school campus. The ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push/pull wheelchairs as needed is also required.

Mental Demands:

This position demands excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential in this role.
