Job Description:

As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for completing working papers and assisting the onshore team with client tax compliance reports. You will handle fundamental and core aspects of clients' tax compliance and may assist with advanced tasks provided by the Accounting Manager or Service Delivery Manager.

  • Prepare and lodge individual income tax returns
  • Prepare and lodge business activity statements
  • Prepare and lodge installment activity statements
  • Prepare and lodge fringe benefits tax returns
  • Conduct bookkeeping in client accounting files, including Xero, MYOB, and occasionally QuickBooks
  • Process payroll in client accounting files, including Xero and MYOB
  • Upload invoice payments for clients
  • Process quarterly superannuation payments
  • Prepare monthly management reports for clients from their accounting platforms, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets
  • Perform other tasks as needed, such as accounting for Division 7a loans, tax planning, trust distribution minutes, and reviewing work prepared by junior accountants
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate degree in Finance and/or Accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) is preferred

Product Knowledge:

  • Complete knowledge of client accounts and businesses
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in Australian accounting or taxation
  • Knowledge of Australian Taxation and Compliance is preferred
  • General Accounting experience with a solid background is preferred
  • Must have experience in Individual, Partnership, Trust, and Company Compliance
  • SMSF compliance knowledge is preferred but optional

System and Application Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with accounting tools, such as Xero and MYOB
  • Ability to learn new systems and tools as needed
