About this role

We're seeking a detail-oriented Canadian Tax Specialist to support our client's real estate and development portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Keeping & Reconciliation

    • Maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, and prepare reports under the guidance of our leadership and Canadian accounting partners.

    • Reconcile bank and credit card statements, as well as transactions from various sources.

    • Categorize transactions accurately according to provided guidelines.

  • Tax & Compliance Support

    • Prepare data and schedules required for GST/HST returns for review and filing by our Canadian accountant.

    • Assist in gathering documentation for year-end tax preparation and audits.

  • Reporting & Administration

    • Generate standard monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet, etc.) from QBO.

    • Update and maintain financial tracking sheets using Google Sheets.

    • Organize and manage digital receipts and documents using tools like Hubdoc and Google Drive.

    • Help track recurring property-related accounts and flag upcoming renewals or payment dates.

    • Prepare vendor payment lists for approval.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping or junior accounting.

  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online, preferably international versions.

  • Experience working with international clients is desirable.

  • Skilled in using Google Sheets/Excel for data management and tracking.

  • Familiarity with receipt management tools is a plus.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn Canadian bookkeeping principles.
