Senior Youth Worker Role Overview

  • This role is based in Emerald, providing supervision and support to young people subject to youth justice interventions. The position supports the Team Leader in managing Youth Workers.
">Key Responsibilities">
  1. Develop cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture aligned with the Human Rights Act 2019, supporting departmental programs and community partnerships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  2. Assist the Team Leader in delivering high-quality services according to legislation, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  3. Develop weekly work rosters, matching youth workers to young people on youth justice orders.
  4. Negotiate with government agencies to enhance access to services for young people, according to the case plan.
  5. Conduct Workplace Health and Safety audits, ensuring safety equipment is available and used correctly.
  6. Support young people in complying with court orders and reintegration into the community.
  7. Maintain records and prepare reports for case planning and reviews.
  8. Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team involving internal and external stakeholders.
  9. Engage effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, demonstrating humility and understanding of historical and contemporary policies affecting these communities.
  10. Travel is required; applicants must hold a current 'C' Class Drivers license.
