Embedded Linux Field Engineer Job

We are seeking a skilled Embedded Linux Field Engineer to join our team. This role involves engaging with customers to gather requirements and explain Canonical technology, elaborating solutions to be proposed to prospective clients, participating in the delivery of select projects related to Embedded Linux, conveying market requirements to key stakeholders, and contributing to the development or refinement of generic solutions to unlock market potential.

This position requires a strong background in Linux, distribution packaging, software design, system debugging, and customer engagements. The ideal candidate will have experience with Debian or Ubuntu, distribution/packaging (deb, rpm, ...), solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot...), fluency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust, professional written and spoken English, excellent communication and presentation skills, result-oriented ability to multi-task, personal drive to meet commitments, and willingness to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings, company events, and conferences.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain Canonical technology.
  • Elaborate solutions to be proposed to prospective clients.
  • Participate in the delivery of select projects related to Embedded Linux.
  • Convey market requirements to key stakeholders and contribute to the development or refinement of generic solutions to unlock market potential.
Requirements:
  • Fluent in Mandarin and willing to travel to China regularly.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Extensive Linux experience - Debian or Ubuntu preferred.
  • Distribution/Packaging experience (deb, rpm, ...).
  • Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot...).
  • Fluency in at least one of Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Professional written and spoken English in addition to the local language.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Result-oriented, ability to multi-task.
  • A personal drive to meet commitments; humble learner and quick study.
