As a senior engineering manager, you will be responsible for leading our engineering team in delivering essential components of Ubuntu. This is a fast-paced role that involves problem-solving and working at the core of Linux server systems.

About the Role:

This position requires a strong technical background and experience in managing teams. You will be expected to demonstrate sound engineering principles through active leadership and hands-on approach.

  • Lead and grow a team of distributed engineers

  • Be responsible for planning, estimation, and execution
  • Work with product management to define vision and strategy for Ubuntu
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leadership teams
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you should have extensive experience working with Linux distributions and packaging technologies (e.g., deb, rpm). Additionally, you should have demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of software engineers.

  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of software engineers
  • High-quality software engineering knowledge in one or more of: Linux system architecture, boot process, Java/GCC/Python/Rust/Go toolchains, ARM, and/or RISC-V
