Job Title: Special Education Teacher

The position of a Special Education Teacher is open at our educational institution. We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team.

This role involves instructing and monitoring student progress in both synchronous and asynchronous instructional settings according to student need. The successful candidate will provide guidance and support to students/families, maintain student records, monitor needed remediation, and work with Academic Advisors to adhere to all necessary accommodations.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Pennsylvania State Teaching Certificate in Special Education, job-related experience, and the ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of assigned courses. They must also be able to understand the diverse backgrounds and needs of PA Cyber students and families.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Orienting students to their course, communicating course requirements, and monitoring student progress and pacing.
  • Demonstrating thorough knowledge and understanding of assigned courses.
  • Facilitating live class sessions in Virtual Classroom and/or Blended Classroom environments.
  • Helping Virtual Classroom Teachers and Blended Classroom Teachers facilitate live sessions.
  • Establishing and communicating clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Creating lesson plans and aligning live instructional material to applicable state standards, assessment anchors, and eligible content.
  • Participating in school initiatives related to student achievement and state/local testing.
  • Serving as a tutor for regularly scheduled tutoring sessions.
  • Holding open office hours to tutor students with individual questions.
  • Monitoring and evaluating student progress to determine appropriate course pacing and assign live interventions, as necessary.
  • Communicating student progress on a regular basis to Academic Advisors, students, and families.
  • Administering periodic benchmark and/or diagnostic assessments and communicating testing results.
  • Monitoring student progress and collecting data for the IEP Team and implementing appropriate interventions and specially designed instruction.
  • Providing detailed feedback in a timely manner for all coursework.
  • Administering state assessments as assigned by supervisor - teachers may be asked to travel for these assessments.
  • Attending all required onsite trainings, meetings, in-service days, and professional development days.
