Job Description

Canonical is seeking an experienced System Software Engineer to join its team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering software solutions that meet the company's requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Java Runtimes, Linux system architecture, and software development. They will also have excellent collaboration skills, being able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

This role involves collaborating with a distributed team, selecting and integrating best-of-breed tooling with Ubuntu, writing high-quality code to create new features, debugging issues, and reviewing code produced by other engineers.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant experience with Java Runtimes and its ecosystem, ideally in the world of cloud-native software and Linux.
  • Experience in packaging software for Debian and Ubuntu.
  • Long-time Linux user.
  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university.
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path.
  • Lovely technology and working with brilliant people.
  • Passionate, curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.
  • Value soft skills and are passionate, enterprising, thoughtful, and self-motivated.
