Legal and Compliance Associate

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal and Compliance Associate to join our team.

This role involves coordinating corporate housekeeping activities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and providing research support on legal and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and the ability to work independently.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive research on legal and regulatory issues
  • Assisting in due diligence on land and other legal matters
  • Coordinating with external counsel for legal and compliance issues
  • Implementing strategies for compliance monitoring and audit
  • Drafting contracts, agreements, and other documents
  • Staying current on industry and government compliance programs
  • Representing the organization at public consultations
  • Facilitating timely completion of compliance matters
  • Ensuring proper filing of legal documents and permits
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in law or a related field
  • 1-3 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant
  • Exposure to government agencies, particularly in the energy sector
  • Background in legal research or prior experience in a law firm
