IT Business Analyst Job Description

The IT Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in leading the analysis and documentation of projects, ensuring portfolios deliver high-quality initiatives. This individual has worked autonomously to produce high-quality deliverables that meet stakeholder needs.

They are equally comfortable working with stakeholders to capture requirements, project managers to coordinate tasks, team members, and technical teams to ensure requirements are delivered. Additionally, they will act as a Scrum Master to support delivery.

  • Capture and document business requirements, scope, and processes for IT projects.
  • Conduct workshops and interviews with subject matter experts and stakeholders from across the organization.
  • Work with project and portfolio managers to ensure appropriate project resourcing, task assignments, and project reporting.
  • Deliver key artefacts as required by the project, including user stories, business requirements documentation, traceability matrices, as-is and to-be process documentation, and wireframes.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Key responsibilities:

  • Knowledge of ServiceNow Administration Tasks, including checking interface jobs status, validating record synchronization, making quick configuration changes, applying permission and grouping, and creating reports and dashboard.
  • Experience working with development teams to implement, test, and deploy changes in the ServiceNow environment.
  • Experience in ServiceNow configuration and administration to optimize ITSM processes and workflows.
  • Experience reviewing ServiceNow upgrades for their impact on the ITSM application, learning new version functionality/enhancements, determining relevancy to the organization, and working with the development team to implement necessary changes.

Nice to have skills:

  • Data modelling and design: can develop models and diagrams to represent and communicate data requirements.
  • Business situation analysis: can produce diagrams and flowchart representations of real-world business situations and functions.
  • Feasibility assessment: define, evaluate, and describe business change options to meet defined requirements.
