As a Corporate Governance Research Associate with our Benchmark Team, you will be responsible for performing and analyzing proxy statements to complete proxy analyses for shareholders' meetings of publicly traded companies in the UK, Ireland, and South Africa markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzing company reports, corporate governance data, and financial information to provide detailed and well-reasoned written analyses on listed companies.

  • Authoring vote recommendations for shareholders' general meetings.

  • Contributing to the timely publication of research reports.

  • Engaging in dialogue with senior representatives of companies as part of the research process.

  • Participating in debates on corporate governance and the implementation of the voting policy among team members and other research teams.

  • Opportunities to contribute to various bespoke projects outside of the normal day-to-day responsibilities, including the development of ISS corporate governance policies.

  • Providing comprehensive training to the team to maintain a thorough awareness of corporate governance standards in the UK, Ireland, and South Africa markets.

Requirements

  • Impeccable written English skills.

  • Highly developed analytical skills, with the ability to absorb and distill large quantities of information while maintaining accuracy.

  • Demonstrable ability to construct a well-reasoned and cogent analysis in clear and sophisticated language.

  • Confident, polished, and diplomatic verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work independently, take initiatives, and collaborate within a team.

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Law, Political Science or equivalent.

  • Knowledge in investment analysis and/or financial research, or other business-related areas.

  • At least six to eight years of experience in corporate governance.

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office apps, especially Word and Excel).
