Social Media Journalist Job Description

As a key player in our organization, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Social Media Journalist to create engaging news content across multiple platforms.

This role involves producing high-quality, short-form videos and written content that drives audience engagement and fosters online conversations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong research skills, ability to fact-check and ensure accuracy, as well as excellent storytelling and writing abilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement social media strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Produce engaging news recaps, explainers, fact-checks, and commentary on trending topics.
  • Stay up-to-date on social media trends and viral content formats to ensure content remains relevant and competitive.
Requirements:
  • Diploma/Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field.
  • Prior experience in content creation, social media management, or digital journalism is an asset.
  • Proficiency in video editing and design software (e.g. Capcut, Canva).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to distill insights into clear, audience-friendly stories.
  • Creative thinker with a keen sense of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Portfolio Requirements:
  • A portfolio/reel showcasing editing skills and social-first video content is required.
