Job Title:

Open Source Security Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Open Source Security Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our security engineering team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the security and integrity of our open source products.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing, fixing, and testing vulnerabilities in open source packages. They will also collaborate with other teams in the Ubuntu community and upstream developers to exchange or develop vulnerability patches and ensure that Ubuntu includes the most robust security features.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing and fixing vulnerabilities in open source packages
  • Collaborating with other teams in the Ubuntu community and upstream developers
  • Developing and implementing security best practices
  • Auditing source code for vulnerabilities

Requirements:

  • Thorough understanding of common security vulnerabilities and techniques for fixing them
  • Familiarity with coordinated disclosure practices
  • Experience with open source development tools and methodologies
  • Skilled in one or more programming languages such as C, Python, Go, Rust, Java, Ruby, PHP, or JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Excellent logic, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
