Senior Back-End Developer Position

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Back-End Developer to join our mission. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and building high-performance backend systems and APIs.

  • You will engineer at scale by designing, developing, and maintaining robust backend systems and APIs built for speed and growth.
  • You will shape access by building and managing secure, reliable, and efficient public-facing APIs.
  • You will automate everything by owning CI/CD pipelines that power continuous integration and deployment.
  • You will stay observant by implementing best-in-class monitoring and observability with tools like Datadog or New Relic.
  • You will collaborate to innovate by partnering with frontend developers, product teams, and stakeholders to align backend architecture with business goals.
  • You will harness PostgreSQL and PostGIS for advanced SQL and geospatial data management.
  • You will deploy solutions in AWS using API Gateway, Lambda, and Serverless frameworks.
  • You will support microservices-based architectures and event-driven workflows with webhooks.
  • You will drive projects forward with agile methodologies and best practices.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in backend development, building and scaling public-facing APIs.
  • Proficiency in Python, with solid experience in Flask or FastAPI.
  • Strong skills in SQL and PostgreSQL, and ideally PostGIS for geospatial data.
  • Familiarity with spatial mapping tools (like Mapbox) or GIS concepts.
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs that are secure, scalable, and built for performance.
  • Proficiency in AWS environments (API Gateway, Lambda, Serverless) and ability to ship production-ready systems.
  • Understanding of microservices and event-driven workflows, including webhooks.
  • Real-world experience using Datadog, New Relic, or similar for observability.
  • Ability to build CI/CD pipelines that keep code moving fast and safe.
