Mechanical Engineer Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler Designer and Estimator to join our organization as a Mechanical Engineer.

This is a key role within the fire protection team, responsible for designing and estimating complex systems for commercial and residential projects.

You will work closely with clients and internal teams to develop system layouts based on review of architectural and mechanical plans, ensuring compliance with New York City Building Codes and applicable standards.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Planswift, Excel, and Fire Elite software, with strong communication and collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Fire Sprinkler Systems: Prepare designs using industry-leading software.
  • Estimate Project Costs: Use Planswift and Excel to prepare take-offs and estimate project costs accurately.
  • Ensure Design Compliance: Verify that designs meet relevant building codes and standards.
  • Review Architectural and Mechanical Plans: Develop system layouts based on review of architectural and mechanical plans.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work collaboratively with project managers, contractors, and clients remotely.
  • Hydraulic Calculations and System Optimization: Perform hydraulic calculations and optimize system performance using Fire Elite or equivalent software.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in MEP Tools: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Planswift, Excel, and Fire Elite is required.
  • Knowledge of Building Codes: Strong familiarity with New York City Building Codes is essential.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for success in this role.
  • Detail-Oriented: Detail-oriented individuals with strong time management skills are preferred.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in fire sprinkler design and estimation is required.
