KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Must be a high school graduate or with a certificate of vocational plumbing technical course with two-year experience as a plumber.
2. Ability to use basic hand tools, multipurpose electrical meters, sewer machine, and other power tools.
3. Ability to read blueprints.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Install, repair and replace pipes, valves, potable and non-potable water systems, drainage, waste and vents such as basins, tubs, faucets, lavatories, sinks, hydrants, water heaters, dishwashers, and back flow devices and other plumbing fixtures and equipment.
2. Maintain, repair and lubricate sewage equipment using hand tools and power tools.
3. Assemble pipe sections tubing and fitting, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
4. Cuts openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools. Hangs steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.
5. Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, pumps, appliances such as dishwasher, garbage disposal and water heaters and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools.
6. Measures, cuts, threads and bends pipes to required angles.
7. Repair fire sprinkler system.
8. Repairs and maintains plumbing, replacing water filters and defective valves and washer, replacing or mending broken pipes and opening clogged drains.
9. Read, draw and interpret written instructions, blueprints, sketches, drawings and building plans. Design or layout the sequence of pipe installations. Estimate time and materials needed for projects.
10. Order/purchase necessary materials to complete the project.
11. Perform other building maintenance as assigned.
