Commodity Risk Manager

Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned commodity risk manager to oversee the management of contracting and price risk activities across our Commercial function. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and influencing skills to engage with teams and senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operations Management: Responsible for BHP's commodity contracts, price risk and financial performance reporting and associated controls, governance, routines and capability.
  • Operations Management: Understand markets across our portfolio and effective stakeholder relationships to advise on portfolio impacts to risk and returns from changes in market conditions, production profiles, customer needs, and strategy.
  • Operations Management: Translates function-wide strategy to operational milestones for teams.
  • Operations Management: Leverages our risk management framework to support safe and reliable delivery and makes risk-informed decisions.
Requirements
  • Strong commodity and/or financial risk management skills to analyze and articulate financial performance and financial risk across the Commercial portfolio.
  • Ability to lead change and lead teams to high performance outcomes.
  • Sound understanding of commodity trading business.
  • Comprehensive understanding of our Risk Management IT infrastructure and capability.
  • Detailed Product and Market Risk process knowledge.
  • Knowledge and application of decision analysis techniques and modeling relating to market risk control models.
