Commodity Transaction Manager Job Description

The Commodity Transaction Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of commodity transactions that meet production requirements and specifications. This involves handling a supplier base, fulfilling transactions, and delivering commodities on time, within volume, quantity, and cost parameters.

This position requires strong market and price monitoring skills, with the ability to research and analyze various freight opportunities to maximize margin. Global and local supply and demand dynamics must also be monitored to ensure informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Market & Price Monitoring
    • Research and analyze freight opportunities to maximize margin
    • Monitor global and local supply and demand dynamics
  • Sales and Customer Support
    • Prepare price offers and assist in order fulfillment
    • Respond to customer inquiries
    • Enter routine data and run specialty reports from contract management databases and systems
  • Procurement and Sourcing Support
    • Help plan purchases and transportation to maximize profitable use of stock and storage facilities
  • Logistics and Inventory Coordination
    • Collaborate with transportation and logistics, quality assurance, customer managers, and credit manager to ensure efficient execution and resolve routine problems
    • Research and analyze freight opportunities to maximize margin
  • Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff
  • Other duties as assigned
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
