Payroll Specialist Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing excellent customer service to internal stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage payroll processing for multiple entities, including calculation of amounts owing on termination, payroll tax and superannuation reconciliations, child support processing, and Workers' Compensation returns.
  • Coordinate activities between businesses and external payroll services providers, ensuring timely and accurate payment of employees.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for payroll functions, ensuring documentation requirements are met.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to internal stakeholders, including employees, managers, and other departments.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of payroll processes, procedures, and systems, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing changes as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in payroll processing, preferably in a shared services environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, with basic MS Excel skills required.
