Data Science Manager (Supply Chain) Job Description

The Data Science Manager (Supply Chain) plays a pivotal role in spearheading the development of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions to enhance supply chain operations, encompassing forecasting, inventory management, logistics, and production planning.

This role requires strong technical and leadership skills, with a preference for experience in food manufacturing and distribution. The successful candidate will lead the charge in defining and executing the data science roadmap for supply chain transformation, collaborating closely with senior leaders across planning, procurement, and operations to identify high-impact analytics initiatives.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop predictive and prescriptive tools to optimize efficiency, service levels, and cost savings while driving continuous improvement within the data analytics function.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and analysts focused on supply chain initiatives, overseeing projects from problem definition to model deployment.
  • Ensure timely and scalable integration of analytics models with existing planning systems, such as SAP, Anaplan, and Snowflake.
  • Oversee the development of machine learning models for forecasting, inventory optimization, supply planning, network modeling, and anomaly detection using advanced algorithms like time series, reinforcement learning, and optimization techniques.
  • Guarantee model accuracy, scalability, and sustainability through robust monitoring and continuous improvement practices.
  • Collaborate with Business Technology, Data Engineering, and Planning/Logistics teams to ensure seamless data access and model deployment.
  • Drive adoption of data science solutions by effectively communicating business value and promoting a culture of data-driven decision-making within the supply chain organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications

A graduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required; a Master's degree in Data Science is preferred.

Minimum two years of experience in data science, with at least one year in a managerial or leadership role, is necessary.

Experience in the food manufacturing or logistics/distribution industry is highly desirable.

Proficiency in data analysis tools and software such as SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI is essential.

Solid understanding of statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning techniques is crucial.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication skills, critical-thinking skills, and presentation skills are mandatory.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment is required.

Experience with ERP and supply chain management systems is a plus.
