The role of a laboratory chemist is crucial in ensuring the quality and accuracy of laboratory test results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performing Chemical Analyses: Conduct chemical and physical analyses according to specified methods and produce accurate, timely, and relevant results.
  • Data Verification and Release: Ensure that analyses are released on time and prepare, review, and verify data generated.
  • Laboratory Equipment Maintenance: Prepare required reagents for analyses in accordance with prescribed test methods and maintain assigned equipment for proper conduct of laboratory tests.
  • Sample Preparation and Subcontracting: Prepare samples for subcontracting to other laboratories for analyses that cannot be done at our facility.
  • Workflow Management: Maintain systematic workflow by regular and proper timing of laboratory tests in order of priority.
  • Quality System Implementation: Implement the established laboratory quality system based on PNS ISO 17025 as well as other accrediting government and private institutions.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure availability of chemicals and supplies by proper monitoring and immediate requisition to ensure timely delivery and avoid delays in test results. Observe guidelines on good housekeeping in the laboratory and its environment, safety guidelines, and proper disposal of laboratory waste.
  • Confidentiality and Security: Safeguard the confidentiality of test results and procedures.
  • Quality Assurance and Control: Participate in proficiency testing and other quality assurance programs of the laboratory, including method verification and validation as required.
  • Training and Development: Provide assistance in conducting non-routine analysis of new capabilities of the laboratory. Train new hires, laboratory staff, on-the-job trainees on physical/chemical analyses techniques.
  • Representation and Communication: Report directly to the Laboratory Supervisor/Laboratory Business Manager and represent us in professional circles, technical forums, etc., as required.
