About the Role
  • This Senior Backend Developer position involves designing, building, and optimizing robust backend systems and APIs using Python, SQL, and AWS.
  • The ideal candidate will work at scale, engineering high-performance backend systems and APIs built for speed and growth, shaping access, automating everything, staying observant, collaborating to innovate, going spatial, going cloud-native, thinking modular, and coding with agility.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend systems and APIs.
  • Build and manage secure, reliable, and efficient public-facing APIs.
  • Own CI/CD pipelines that power continuous integration and deployment.
  • Implement best-in-class monitoring and observability with tools like Datadog or New Relic.
  • Partner with frontend developers, product teams, and stakeholders to align backend architecture with business goals.
  • Harness PostgreSQL and PostGIS for advanced SQL and geospatial data management.
  • Deploy solutions in AWS using API Gateway, Lambda, and Serverless frameworks.
  • Support microservices-based architectures and event-driven workflows with webhooks.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance backend reliability at every step.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of backend development experience, building and scaling public-facing APIs.
  • Solid experience in Flask or FastAPI.
  • Highly skilled in SQL and PostgreSQL, and ideally PostGIS for geospatial data.
  • Experience with spatial mapping tools (like Mapbox) or GIS concepts.
  • Design RESTful APIs that are secure, scalable, and built for performance.
  • Thriving in AWS environments (API Gateway, Lambda, Serverless) and shipping production-ready systems.
  • Understanding microservices and event-driven workflows, including webhooks.
  • Real-world experience using Datadog, New Relic, or similar for observability.
  • CI/CD expertise and ability to build pipelines that keep code moving fast and safe.
Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats such as GeoJSON, shapefiles, or KMZ.
  • Understanding telecom or utility network planning and deployment workflows.
  • Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular.
  • Familiarity with Figma or other UI/UX prototyping tools.
