Medical Coding Trainer Role

This role is responsible for conducting medical coding education for new and existing medical coders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical coding and be able to develop modules for training, update curriculum and syllabus, and maintain knowledge of ICD 10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop modules for medical coding and billing training (ICD 10 CM, CPT, E/M coding, Business of Medicine, Edit Resolution, and Revenue Cycle Management).
  • Update curriculum and training syllabus related to coding and billing training programs including Periodic Updates, Policy updates, Peripherals of RCM, and Med-Metrix Learning Academy.
  • Maintain knowledge of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.
  • Provide training and review for onboarding coders and refresher training for tenured coders.
  • Disseminate changes and updates in guidelines and rules.
  • Collaborate with workgroups to resolve issues that impact internal and external customers.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of any Medical or Allied Medical course or has equivalent work experience.
  • CPC certification from AAPC or CCS certification from AHIMA.
  • Proficient with Revenue Cycle Management, E/M and Procedure Coding.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and have the willingness to adjust to changing job responsibilities.
  • Possess strong verbal, written communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work extended hours.
