Job Summary:
OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Retail Financial Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our financial operations, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, streamlining transaction processing, and supporting automation initiatives using QuickBooks Online (QBO) and other financial tools.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable wearing many hats in a fast-paced environment. Experience in retail bookkeeping is preferred, and you must be ready to jump in, lighten the workload, and make a meaningful impact through operational excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record and categorize daily financial transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO) accurately.
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including invoice entry, payments, and reconciliations.
- Maintain an organized and up-to-date general ledger.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts regularly, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Provide retail accounting support, including inventory tracking, cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) allocations, and POS system integration.
- Assist with the financial nuances of jewelry sales, returns, and vendor purchasing.
- Utilize Bill.com to process and manage vendor payments efficiently and support payroll administration in coordination with internal systems and external providers.
- Assist with reporting and financial analysis tasks, including generating financial statements (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow) and identifying trends for cost optimization or revenue improvement.
- Collaborate with the finance team to support forecasting and budgeting efforts.
- Contribute to technology and automation initiatives, including automating workflows using QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Excel, or other integrated tools; recommend and implement improvements to streamline bookkeeping operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of hands-on bookkeeping experience in a retail or e-commerce setting.
- Experience in or with the jewelry industry is a strong plus.
- Payroll experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and experience using Bill.com is required.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools; able to learn new technology quickly.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-starter with an ownership mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and remote work environment.
