Accountant Role Summary

This is a key role that requires an experienced accountant to manage financial reporting, close processes, audits, and compliance for our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions into our database.
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information from various sources.
  • Maintain our general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements to support business decisions.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close responsibilities and ensure team members stay on track during close to meet deadlines.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure optimum process and efficiency in financial operations.
  • Ensure deadlines and controls are met in accordance with policies and procedures to maintain a high level of compliance.
  • Manage proper deliverables to external auditors on annual audits and quarterly reviews to avoid any potential issues.
  • Lead internal audit engagements to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
  • Complete external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors to ensure a smooth process.
  • Avoid legal challenges by complying with legal requirements and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups and protecting sensitive data.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting and more than seven years of experience in finance or accounting or a related area.
  • Extensive experience in US non-profit accounting including reporting and compliance (tax) to ensure expertise in this area.
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS to provide a solid understanding of accounting standards.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • Experience in a Big 4 firm is preferred but not required.
  • Strong MS Excel skills to analyze and present financial data effectively.
  • Experience developing financial reports and metrics to inform business decisions.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills to create professional documents and presentations.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining the big picture.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across an organization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
