Romance Novel Proofreader Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented proofreader to join our team of romance novel enthusiasts. As the last set of eyes on a manuscript, you'll ensure consistency, polish, and emotional continuity across every page.

  • Proofread manuscripts for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
  • Maintain consistency in voice, formatting, and dialogue flow.
  • Double-check continuity across POVs, timelines, and character details.
  • Flag potential errors or inconsistencies for review.
  • Provide actionable feedback through tracked changes, editorial notes, and occasional calls.
  • Juggle multiple projects while meeting production deadlines.
About the Position

This is a contract-based role with the opportunity to work fully remotely. You'll be responsible for ensuring that every love story shines on the page.

  • Contract basis with compensated trial period.
  • Fully remote role.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of professional proofreading/copyediting experience in contemporary romance.
  • 2+ published romance novels proofread (please provide links or ISBNs).
  • Advanced command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting.
  • Eye for detail and deep respect for the genre's pacing and emotional beats.
  • Organized, reliable, and able to balance multiple manuscripts at once.
