Job Description

A System Administrator will be responsible for providing support within a 24/7 production environment, focusing on Ubuntu Linux servers. Daily maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Linux systems and services are essential duties. The ideal candidate must be able to triage and resolve issues, escalate when necessary, investigate alerts, coordinate responses, document responses, and communicate effectively with team members.

This role involves performing various tasks, including remote system administration, daily maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Linux systems and services. The successful candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, be proficient in Bash scripting, and have experience managing Proxmox or similar Linux KVM hypervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Remote system administration in a 24/7 production environment, focusing on Ubuntu Linux servers
  • Daily maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Linux systems and services
  • Triage and resolve issues, escalating when necessary
  • Investigate alerts, coordinate responses, document responses, and communicate effectively with team members

Requirements:

  • 1 year of production Linux system administration experience
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Ability to work various shift schedules, including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 production environment
  • Proficient in Bash scripting with the ability to understand and modify GoLang and Perl
  • Familiarity with user management, configuration, and package management best practices
  • Experience managing Proxmox or a similar Linux KVM hypervisor
  • Experience configuring and debugging networking issues, routing problems, and firewall rules
