Job Overview

The role of Senior Energy Specialist involves leading technical reviews and due diligence for hydropower projects in developing countries.

This position requires formulating and articulating energy sector policy and strategies, engaging government officials in policy dialogue, and conducting activities to support sector policy and reforms.

The selected candidate will have expertise in hydropower-related engineering or a core competency such as hydromechanical/electromechanical engineering, water engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or project management.

Key responsibilities include reviewing technical documents, developing and designing new lending projects and programs, supervising hydropower projects during construction, and preparing loan and grant applications.

Qualifications
  • Masters degree in hydropower-related engineering or a core competency
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in hydropower energy, preferably exposure to other renewable energy generation
  • Experience in environmental and social aspects of large infrastructure development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The salary will be based on ADB's standards and comparator markets, taking into account your qualifications and experience.

This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial period of 3 years. The appointment may be extended once for up to 2 years, converted to a regular appointment, or ended on its expiration date.
