Medical Billing Specialist

The position of Medical Billing Specialist involves working with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to process and manage claims. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of the Athena platform, excellent attention to detail, and effective communication skills.

The responsibilities of this role include accurately posting medical charges, payments, and journal entries to patient accounts, as well as verifying insurance eligibility and benefits. The Medical Billing Specialist must also prepare and transmit claims using the Athena billing software and proactively follow up on unpaid claims to ensure maximum reimbursement.

Key qualifications for this position include extensive hands-on experience using the Epic billing software/EMR, a solid understanding of US Healthcare insurance guidelines and medical billing best practices, and demonstrated ability to perform eligibility and benefit verification.
