Financial Operations Specialist Job Description

The ideal candidate for this role will work closely with the finance team to manage day-to-day transactional finance processes. This includes managing accounts payable and receivable, preparing VAT returns, performing bank reconciliations, and assisting in month-end tasks such as accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing Accounts Payable: The successful candidate will be responsible for processing supplier invoices, credit cards, and employee expenses in NetSuite, ensuring accuracy and timely completion of tasks.
  • Purchase Orders: They will raise purchase orders upon request and ensure alignment with financial records, guaranteeing seamless procurement processes.
  • Payment Runs: The Financial Operations Specialist will prepare weekly payment runs for review and processing, maintaining a high level of efficiency in financial transactions.
  • Accounts Receivable & Credit Control: They will send sales invoices, track payment status, and follow up with debtors as needed, promoting effective cash flow management.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Regular reconciliations of bank accounts will be performed by the specialist, ensuring transactional integrity and compliance with UK tax standards.
  • VAT Returns: Support will be provided in the preparation and filing of VAT returns, adhering to UK tax regulations.
  • Month-End Tasks: Assistance will be offered in the preparation of accruals, prepayments, fixed asset register maintenance, and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Three to five years of hands-on experience within a finance function is necessary.
  • Experience in UK GAAP and IFRS is highly preferred.
  • A strong working knowledge of accounting principles and month-end/year-end processes is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in NetSuite being a plus.
