Product Designer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Toy Product Designer to craft engaging and safe toys for children.

This role requires a solid understanding of visual design, child behavior, and preferences, as well as adherence to toy safety standards.

  1. Create innovative, age-appropriate toy concepts aligned with current themes, trends, and brand objectives.
  2. Develop detailed sketches, 3D models, and prototypes using design tools like CAD, SolidWorks, and Adobe Illustrator.
  3. Conduct user research and testing with children or parent focus groups to gather valuable insights.
  4. Ensure compliance with local and international toy safety standards, such as ASTM, EN71, and CPSIA.
  5. Collaborate with suppliers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure feasibility, cost-efficiency, and quality.
  6. Work with marketing and branding teams to integrate toy designs with promotional campaigns.

To succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Toy Design, Product Design, or a related field. A proven track record in toy or product design, especially for children, is also essential. A strong portfolio showcasing your design process and final products is crucial.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proficient in 2D and 3D design software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino, and Fusion 360.
  • Understanding of child psychology, play behavior, and developmental appropriateness.
  • Knowledge of toy materials, prototyping, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with toy safety standards and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
