Medical File Reviewer Job Description

As a Medical File Reviewer, you will be responsible for reviewing and preparing medical records to determine the accuracy of medical opinions. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and make a real difference in people's lives.

  • Prepare case files and Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) assigned in the client portal.
  • Review and bookmark medical records and create a synopsis to answer medical opinion questions based on the veteran's medical history.
  • Remotely assist medical providers during scheduled appointments by accessing and navigating different apps in the exam room prior to the appointment.
  • Remotely interview veterans via approved video or telephone conference platforms.
  • Transcribe medical histories based on veterans' answers to questions in DBQs.
  • Document physical examination findings in the appropriate section of DBQs.
  • Complete all sections of DBQ spreadsheets after each appointment.
  • Meet with medical providers to discuss assigned cases and determine final diagnoses per DBQ.
  • Transfer data from DBQ spreadsheets to the client portal.
  • Submit DBQs in the client portal.
  • Answer queries and addendum reports from clients' QAs.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A BSN and active PHRN license.
  • Good communication skills to assist veterans, medical providers, and colleagues effectively.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility in work schedule changes as needed.
  • Accountability for all assigned cases.
  • Proficiency in MS applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Assistance in improving processes and creating process-related templates as needed.
