Remote Corporate Accounting Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Operations Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing financial reports, maintaining accurate general ledgers, managing daily accounting tasks, and assisting in month-end closings.
As an Accounting Operations Support Specialist, you will be crucial in ensuring financial accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with U.S. accounting standards (GAAP). Your strong analytical skills and ability to work independently will enable you to make a significant impact on our clients' financial health.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow)
- Perform journal entries, reconciliations, and ensure accuracy in general ledger accounts
- Process and review accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Generate accurate financial reports and analyses for review by clients and senior staff
- Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance reports
- Maintain up-to-date records and ensure documentation supports reported balances
- Client Support & Ad Hoc Projects
- Collaborate with Controllers on income/expense projections
- Complete reviews of your work and support quality checks for team members
- Address client queries and deliver timely updates as needed
- Compliance & Documentation
- Support compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local accounting regulations
- Help ensure that bookkeeping and tax-related documentation are audit-ready
- Administrative & Internal Coordination
- Track time accurately across multiple client accounts
- Participate in internal training and team meetings
- Perform other business-related tasks as assigned by management
What You Bring
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
- At least 3 years of corporate accounting experience.
- Experience working remotely for a U.S.-based accounting firm.
- Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles.
- Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software (MS Excel and Google Sheets).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to follow through and execute a high volume of nuanced tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant.
- Experience in startups, SaaS, or fast-paced client environments.
- Familiarity with tools such as Expensify, Bill.com, Gusto, Stripe, etc.
