Job Overview

The Farm Manager is responsible for supervising, directing and managing the operation of breeder and nursery farms by creating and implementing systems to achieve targeted production efficiency and cost of production. The role ensures high standards of animal welfare and adherence to biosecurity protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manages and oversees swine production processes and farm operations to achieve targeted performance.
  2. Ensures genetic quality and productivity through effective breeding programs.
  3. Maintains correct inventory levels and variance thresholds.
  4. Processes data accurately using appropriate systems.
  5. Implements health protocols, monitors swine health and administers vaccinations and treatments as needed.
  6. Leads the swine production team and collaborates with other teams to ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of the farm facilities.
  7. Regularly inspects and maintains farming equipment.
  8. Develops and implements biosecurity protocols, collaborating with concerned teams for physical security implementation.
  9. Presents reports on farm performance and productivity.
  10. Evaluates and provides feedback on third-party manpower providers' performance to ensure service level commitments are met.
People Development
  1. Monitors and evaluates direct report performance.
  2. Builds IDPs and intervenes in direct report development and growth.
  3. Performs assigned work-related tasks.
Food Safety
  1. Establishes Quality Policy and Objectives compatible with organizational context and strategic direction.

Requirements

Must be a graduate of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent Agri courses. At least 5 years supervisory experience in a swine farm and 2 years managerial experience.

Desirable Skills

Thorough knowledge of swine production processes, above average computer skills and good communication skills.
