Technical Drafter Job Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient technical drafter to join our design team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming concepts into precise technical drawings that guide the fabrication of custom furniture products.

You will work closely with engineers, designers, and production staff to ensure that all technical documentation meets both aesthetic and functional standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in drafting, deep knowledge of materials and construction methods used in furniture making, and the ability to work efficiently in a collaborative environment.

This role is perfect for someone who values accuracy and is passionate about high-quality design.

  • Key Responsibilities:
    • Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings and schematics using CAD software
    • Translate design concepts and sketches into fully dimensioned production-ready technical documents
    • Prepare exploded views, assembly instructions, and component lists to support fabrication processes
    • Maintain organized documentation of all revisions, drawings, and technical records
  • Furniture Production Coordination:
    • Collaborate with furniture designers and production teams to ensure technical drawings align with manufacturing capabilities and material specifications
    • Review and adjust designs for structural integrity and material efficiency
    • Provide technical support during prototyping and fabrication phases
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Ensure all designs comply with safety and quality standards
    • Perform checks on all drawings before release to ensure dimensional accuracy and completeness
  • Project Support and Communication:
    • Participate in design reviews and project planning meetings to provide technical input and updates

Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in technical drafting, specifically in the furniture manufacturing industry
  • Strong understanding of woodworking techniques, joinery, materials, and hardware used in furniture production
  • Familiarity with CNC production workflows and lean manufacturing principles is a plus
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, or other drafting/CAD software
