Job Overview

The Senior Bookkeeper is a vital role in our financial operations, responsible for leading onboarding and cleanup projects, mentoring junior team members, and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure the reliability of our financial management.

Responsibilities
  • Review and ensure the quality of junior bookkeeper outputs.
  • Lead accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, including invoice preparation, approval flows, and reconciliation.
  • Manage onboarding and cleanup workflows for new client accounts.
  • Maintain and enhance SOPs, checklists, and process documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal standards.
  • Train and coach junior bookkeepers, serving as an escalation contact.
  • Effectively manage multiple clients and meet all deadlines for month-end close.
  • Collaborate with the pod lead to execute onboarding plans.
  • Communicate proficiently via email and Slack using alias accounts.
Competencies and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
  • Deep understanding of US GAAP, full-cycle bookkeeping, and financial cleanup.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Xero, or similar platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and process adherence.
  • Strong leadership capability and mentoring experience.
  • Track record of creating or refining SOPs and efficient workflows.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.
