The Job Description

We are seeking a talented Writer-Editor to join our team. This individual will be responsible for creating engaging essays, providing insightful feedback to students, and refining drafts to optimize clarity, coherence, and style.

This role demands a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the college application process, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Essay Creation: The Writer-Editor will collaborate with the College Admissions Team's Consultants to conceive compelling essay topics, provide thoughtful feedback to students, and revise drafts to enhance grammar, clarity, style, flow, structure, and word count.
  2. Research Expertise: Depending on the student's interests and profile, the Writer-Editor will conduct comprehensive research to strengthen their work.
  3. Teamwork: As part of the Editing Team, Writer-Editors will assist colleagues with drafting, brainstorming, augmenting, and reviewing assignments, particularly those with urgent deadlines.
  4. Logistical Tasks: Writer-Editors will manage administrative tasks associated with their assignments, including coordinating logistical needs, organizing deliverables, drafting email updates, scheduling review meetings, taking notes, and preparing meeting summaries.
  5. Business Growth: During the off-season, the Writer-Editor may engage in projects contributing to the growth of the team and company overall.
  6. Ethics: We strictly prohibit the use of AI tools like ChatGPT or Bard, as AI-generated content automatically disqualifies a student's application. Termination is immediate if such practices are detected.

Requirements

  1. Superior English verbal and written communication skills with a firm grasp of grammar.
  2. A degree from a 4-year program in English, Literature, Journalism, Education, or related fields is preferred; however, graduates from other fields are encouraged to apply.
  3. Experience working for an education consulting company specializing in college admissions is advantageous but not mandatory.
  4. A portfolio showcasing a minimum of three written samples (one creative piece and one research sample) is compulsory.
  5. Experience working during PST hours is desirable but not necessary.
  6. The ability to edit and write proficiently without relying on AI tools is essential.
  7. Participation in an Internship Day before training is necessary.
