Network Operations Center Engineer

The role of a Network Operations Center (NOC) engineer is to ensure maximum possible service availability and performance. This involves provisioning customer network services on core equipment, providing support services for engineering and other technical teams, and troubleshooting issues that impact VoIP and Core Networks.

As an NOC engineer, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining monitoring systems, handling faults and escalations, liaising with third-party suppliers, and performing server builds and installs, application upgrades, and network equipment build and installation.

You will also be responsible for maintaining WIKI and technical documentation, developing knowledge and skills in network and system administration, and participating in a 24x7 call-out rota if required.

This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to assess and prioritize faults, and respond or escalate accordingly. You should have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work well in a busy team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain monitoring systems

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 12-18 months' experience in a Technical Support or similar role
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to assess and prioritize faults and respond or escalate accordingly
  • Good network diagnostic skills
  • Basic Linux CLI skills
  • Basic sys admin skills
