Job Purpose:

The Medical Coding Trainer is responsible for conducting medical coding education for new and existing medical coders.

">

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • ">
  • Develops modules for medical coding and billing training (ICD 10 CM, CPT, E/M coding, Business of Medicine, Edit Resolution, and Revenue Cycle Management).">
  • Maintains knowledge of ICD 10 CM, ICD 10 PCS, CPT and HCPCS coding guidelines.">
  • Updates existing training modules.">
  • Develops and produces materials for inpatient medical coding exercises, assessment, and qualifying examination.">
  • Consolidates coder scores from quizzes, exams and assessments and presents consolidated data during weekly meetings.">
  • Maintains certifications of the staff by providing continuing education units.">
  • Provides training and review for onboarding coders and refresher training for tenured coders.">
  • Disseminates changes and updates in guidelines and rules.">
  • Collaborates with all workgroups to resolve issues that impact internal and external customers.">
  • Possesses knowledge of, understanding of, and compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.">
  • Participates in monthly calibration training.">
  • Creates assessments to check learnings from calibration training.">
  • Consolidates coder scores from calibration assessment and presents consolidated data to operations.">
