Job Overview

We seek an experienced Senior Accountant with extensive knowledge in US non-profit accounting. As a part-time remote employee, you will be responsible for financial reporting, close processes, audits, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  • Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by analyzing and compiling account information.
  • Maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  • Summarize financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close responsibilities and ensure team members stay on track during close.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure optimal process efficiency.
  • Ensure deadlines and controls are met in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Manage proper deliverables to external auditors on annual audits and quarterly reviews.
  • Lead internal audit engagements and complete external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information for auditors.
  • Avoid legal challenges by complying with legal requirements.
  • Secure financial information by completing database backups.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and more than seven years of experience in finance or accounting or a related area.
  • Extensive experience in US non-profit accounting including reporting and compliance (tax).
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
  • Experience in a Big 4 firm is a plus.
  • Strong MS Excel skills.
  • Experience developing financial reports and metrics.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with various management levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and ability to manage multiple competing priorities while maintaining the big picture.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others through effective verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects across an organization.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
