Job Title: Publishing Assistant

A key role for a motivated and organized individual to assist in the development and promotion of children's books.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Coordination: Assist in managing the development of children's books from concept to publication, coordinate with illustrators, ghostwriters, and other freelancers, monitor project timelines, and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Content Support: Review and provide feedback on drafts, organize and maintain book-related files and documentation.
  • Marketing & Advertising Assistance: Support promotional efforts including basic advertising, content preparation for listings, and outreach; help strategize and execute marketing campaigns across online platforms.
  • Publishing Support: Research best practices for self-publishing platforms (e.g., Amazon KDP), assist in formatting and preparing manuscripts for publication, keep track of royalties, sales, and promotional results as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must have at least 1 year experience in publishing, editorial support, or project coordination in a creative field (children's publishing is a plus).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with creatives such as illustrators and writers.
  • Self-starter with a proactive and problem-solving mindset.
  • Comfortable working independently in a startup environment.
  • Familiarity with children's book content and trends is a plus.
  • Nice-to-have: Knowledge of publishing platforms like KDP or IngramSpark.
  • Experience with graphic design tools or basic book formatting.
  • Background in marketing or social media promotion for creative products.
