Job Title: Senior Technical Lead

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced technical leader to join our data platform team. As a senior technical lead, you will be responsible for leading teams focused on Big Data and MySQL databases.

You will oversee the development of scalable data solutions for Kubernetes and cloud machines. Your primary goal is to ensure that all data applications at scale on these platforms meet high engineering standards and deliver exceptional results.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement high-quality data solutions.
  • Hire, coach, mentor, and provide feedback to junior engineers.
  • Demonstrate expertise in software engineering by directly contributing code when needed.
  • Effectively communicate with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Advocate for modern software development practices and develop evangelize great engineering and organizational practices.
  • Maintain a culture of quality and engineering excellence.
  • Grow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
About You

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in software engineering, preferably with experience in Python and Golang. You must also have experience running production-level systems and scaling applications.

You are expected to demonstrate excellent judgment about people, their motivations, abilities, developmental needs, and prospects for success. Proven ability to build high-quality open-source software and drive good engineering practices around performance and quality are essential.

We are seeking a passionate advocate for software development who is knowledgeable about new technologies and has the drive to push boundaries.

Requirements

To excel in this position, you should possess:

  • A software engineering background with experience in Python and Golang.
  • Experience running in production and at scale, preferably with Big Data or MySQL.
  • Excellent judgement about people - their motivations, abilities, developmental needs, and prospects for success.
  • Proven ability to build high-quality, open-source software.
  • Proven ability to drive good engineering practices around performance and quality.
  • An open-minded attitude to new technologies and the drive to push the boundaries of what is possible.
