System Software Engineer

Candidates with a passion for precision, performance and user experience are sought by Canonical. We have an exciting opportunity to hire a talented System Software Engineer who will design and implement features across the Mir stack.

As part of our growing team, you will assist in debugging, tracking down and fixing issues. You will also participate in our engineering process through code and architectural review, and create and improve tests and performance benchmarks to catch issues early.

Apart from designing and implementing new features, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining documentation to enhance the developer experience. You will engage with the open source community and commercial partners, collaborate proactively with a distributed team and work remotely.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM or similar and 2+ years of working experience. They should have excellent modern C++ and excellent Rust programming skills, familiarity with Linux as a development and deployment platform and ability to collaborate remotely.

Additionally, the candidate should have strong written and verbal communication skills to document and present software developed. A solid understanding of asynchronous programming and concurrency patterns is also required.
