System Software Engineer Role

This position is part of the Ubuntu Foundations team, responsible for delivering the core Ubuntu system and developing solutions for the industry.

About the Position

We are seeking a skilled System Software Engineer to work on critical toolchains involved in the making of Ubuntu and pillars of the modern software ecosystem. You will leverage your experience and passion in Go programming language to make Ubuntu the best platform to develop, distribute, and consume software built with Go.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate effectively with a distributed team to drive project success.
  • Select, integrate, and package top-tier tooling with Ubuntu to enhance developer and operator experience with Go.
  • Develop high-quality code to create new features.
  • Debug issues and produce high-quality code to fix them.
Requirements
  • Relevant Go experience, ideally in cloud-native software and Linux.
  • Experience in packaging software for Debian and Ubuntu.
  • A long-time Linux user.
  • Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
  • An undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about an alternative chosen path.
