Job Overview

The role of Construction Estimator involves scrutinizing plans, performing takeoffs and crafting detailed estimates encompassing a broad scope. The estimate plays a critical role in defining the project management team's scope of work and controlling construction costs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect and organize all relevant project information.
  • Investigate information to identify missing or conflicting scope/details crucial for successful project constructability.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for all aspects of commercial construction projects including but not limited to demolition, asphalt, curb, fine grading, concrete, masonry, steel (tonnage), framing (all components, doors/hardware, glass storefront (SF), HVAC duct, Plumbing, Electrical components, Electrical conduit/wire).
  • Assist with reviewing and redlining construction documents/ plans/specifications and responding to requests for information.
  • Estimate components of the project scope such as material, labor and equipment required to complete the project using Microsoft Excel based on existing cost information.
Requirements
  • A degree in construction, engineering, business management/finance/accounting or a related field is preferred but not mandatory based on level of experience and aptitude.
  • Knowledge of construction, its various components and how these are constructed.
  • Commercial construction experience across multiple trades is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel as well as electronic takeoff software.
