Job Description:

Sun Life Financial is seeking an experienced project manager to lead business systems analysis, systems analysis and development, testing, and infrastructure. This role involves managing multiple projects, including waterfall and agile development methods, in multi-platform and multi-tiered architecture.

Major Accountabilities:

  • Application Business Management:
    • Develops the application strategy, roadmap, and features definition.
    • Manages the application enhancement delivery, including intake, prioritization, definition, and execution of the release plan, coordination with interfacing applications, and management of dependencies, resources, and costs.
  • Project Management:
    • Leads the project team in analyzing business needs and assessing potential solutions, preparing and confirming the project scope, cost schedule, risks, determining appropriate governance structure, and project methodology, building the project team, and obtaining approval from project stakeholders.
    • Collaborates with the steering committee to manage change, resolve issues, address risks, or take corrective actions when necessary.
    • Reports project status to the team, project sponsor, PMO, and other members of management.
    • Reviews project effort and cost statistics at the conclusion of the project and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Delivery Management:
    • Oversees planning and execution, including requirements definition, design, development, testing, implementation, and warrant support, working closely with business systems analysts, designers, developers, testers, infrastructure analysts, and interfacing application resources.
    • Ensures timely, within-budget, and high-quality delivery of project components.
  • Resource Management:
    • Maintains and updates the resource utilization and tracking tool.
    • Ensures development and training needs of staff are documented and met.
    • Aligns resource assignments with career development and individual aspirations.
    • Communicates changes in assignments to billable resources.
    • Ensures the team has necessary tools (hardware/software).
