We are seeking a skilled accounting professional to manage fund accounting tasks, data management, and process improvements to support our clients' financial operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, particularly related to private equity funds. They will be responsible for preparing work papers for accuracy and completeness, handling deal-by-deal capital calls, distributions, and expense allocations, tracking and maintaining carried interest issuances, summarizing key provisions from fund agreements, and preparing monthly cash reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Fund Accounting Tasks: Prepare accurate and complete work papers, including capital activity, investment activity, income, fund flow, and expense allocations.
  2. Handle deal-by-deal capital calls, distributions, and expense allocations; prepare investor notices.
  3. Track and maintain carried interest issuances, update deal-specific carry, and re-allocate carry based on fund rules.
  4. Summarize key provisions from fund agreements, such as allocation methodologies, clawback provisions, and expense policies.
  5. Prepare monthly cash reconciliations, downloading bank activity, tracking expense reserves, and tax withholdings.
  6. Set up GP entities in Investran and record historical capital activity.
  7. Record monthly journal entries in Investran based on capital activity.
  8. Prepare quarterly trial balances and reconcile fund accounting workpapers.
  9. Maintain tax withholdings and payments by investor, fund, and legal entity.
  10. Maintain year-to-date and life-to-date capital activity records.
  11. Track General Partner commitments by fund.
Data & Processes:
  1. Assist in preparing data for technology solutions, ensuring data integrity across databases and tools.
  2. Cleanse and scrutinize data and reports to identify errors.
  3. Monitor data quality, develop systematic approaches for improvement.
  4. Engage with department managers to specify data requirements for analysis projects.
  5. Create, expand, and own various processes, seeking opportunities for improvement.
  6. Document procedures and policies, understanding and reviewing deal-by-deal allocation documentation.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Previous experience in General Partner or Fund accounting, with 3-5 years in private equity accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, particularly related to private equity funds.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially advanced Excel skills.
  • Comfortable handling large data sets.
  • Understanding of accounting and finance process flows and general ledger integration.
  • Initiative, fast learning ability, and a proactive approach.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to own workstreams and provide insights.
  • Ability to follow procedures and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and energetic.

Desired (Plus but not a requirement): Proficiency in Investran, with advanced user preferred.
